Matthew writes: Be has completed its conquest of Palm, after cleverly declaring bankruptcy and then gaining crucial access to Palm facilities by being acquired by it for 11M in stock.
Palm engineers, who were initially surprised that Be employees came with the chairs, cubicles, and computers that they had purchased, became even more suspicious as the same Be engineers began recoding the forthcoming version 6 of the Palm OS, without being tasked to do so.
Rumors of a “Be org” conspiracy floated through the company, as Be engineers showed up uninvited to staff meetings and intruded into the extreme programming sessions of Palm engineers. By remaining attentive while bored Palm staffers slept through meetings, the Be engineers assimilated silently and took control of key organization positions. Last week, their positions now secured, the Be engineers set fire to the executive building and took four other buildings as prize booty. The buildings were last seen moving slowly north on the I5. It is unknown how these recent developments will impact Palm’s strategy to split itself into separate software and hardware units.
